Required Credentials:

• Associates Degree (ASN, ADN) from an accreditated Nursing Program.

Special Requests:

• All time off and special requests should be discussed directly with managers upon arrival (no pre-approval).
• Clinicians must start assignments within 30 days of receiving an offer.
• Individual Professional Liability coverage is mandatory for assignment duration (Only individual malpractice insurance is accepted by the facility).

Unit Details:

• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings including daily morning rounds, treatment team planning, in-service training by unit, department, and discipline, Department of Psychiatry committee meetings, and quality assurance activities.
• Conduct patient interviews and perform holistic initial nursing assessments on admission and discharge.
• Utilize, complete, and document psychiatric screening and assessment tools on admission and per policy, including BROSET, CSSRS, ELOPEMENT, CIWA, CINA, AUDIT C, and PSP.
• Conduct or co-facilitate nursing education groups.
• Participate in and document the comprehensive treatment plan.
• Assist with diagnostic procedures within scope of practice, including EKG, phlebotomy, vital signs, and IV insertion.
• Guide ancillary staff in patient care activities special to psychiatry, including community meetings, small group patient meetings, use of seclusion and suicide precautions, and elopement risks.
• Ensure safety of patients going off unit or offsite to diagnostic or therapeutic activities.
• Participate in patient-family or family conferences.

Shift & Scheduling:

• No on-call.
• Overtime not allowed at NYCHH facilities (requires written manager approval in rare cases).
