    Additional Details:

    Resume: Each employment history entry must include detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level (if applicable), patient ratio, and whether it was a teaching facility. References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

    Required Skills/Experience: Oncology and PCU experience required.

    Required Credentials: Open-book skills exam on Friday during orientation; must score 90% to pass. You are required to pass a Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG exam during onboarding.

    Special Requests: An interview may not be available prior to offer. Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained. Cannot have worked at any CommonSpirit location within the last 12 months. Cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity. Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility. RTO must be submitted up front; maximum 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract. Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submission.

    Unit Details: Mixed PCU/Med-Surg/Oncology unit caring for adult oncology and trauma patients. Ratios: 1:4 PCU, 1:5 Med/Surg; nights 1:5-6 patients. Titrates insulin and Cardizem drips; common drips/medications include chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix. Equipment/competencies on unit include ventilator, hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000), ICP, Alaris IV pumps, and Lyko lifts; real-time training is available.

    Shift & Scheduling: Night shift 7p-7a. Every other weekend. Self-schedule.

    Floating Requirements: Float to Med/Surg and PCU units at the same level of care.

    Step-Down Unit Travel Nurse Job Responsibilities and Salary

    Job responsibilities of a Step-Down nurse include maintaining ventilators, administering treatments and medications, collaborating with members of the healthcare team, and interacting with patients and their families. Registered Nurses who specialize in Step-Down Unit will need BLS and ACLS certifications. They will manage many high-risk IV medications such as Heparin or Insulin infusions. The average nurse-to-patient ratio is usually between 3 and 4 patients; this may vary depending on the facility. Average annual salaries in the United States for a Step-Down nurse are around $88,000.     Step-Down Unit (SDU) Travel Nurse Jobs in Omaha, Nebraska

    Step-Down (SDU) nurses work in hospital and skilled rehab settings. The SDU is an intermediate unit between the ICU and med-surg. It is also called a Progressive Care or Transitional Care Unit. Patients are not as acutely ill as in the ICU, but are also not stable enough to be on a med-surg unit with a higher nurse-to-patient ratio.
