References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.
Required Credentials:
- Pass/fail open-book unit exam on Friday during orientation; must score 90% to pass.
- You are required to pass a Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG exam during onboarding.
Special Requests:
- Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
- Cannot have worked at any CommonSpirit location within the last 12 months.
- Cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity.
- Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility.
- Limited block scheduling may be approved.
Unit Details:
- Cares for med/surg telemetry patients including stroke patients, stable neurological deficits, post-neurosurgery patients, and med/surg overflow.
- Common patient population includes joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive.
- Titrate heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips; PCA pumps used.
- Tele techs interpret strips; RNs should have tele awareness.
- No respiratory therapy equipment troubleshooting.
- Mechanical lifts available in every other room.
- Unit typically has multiple discharges and admissions in one day.
- Serves a culturally diverse patient population, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese communities.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Every other weekend at minimum; additional weekend shifts may be required based on unit needs and census.
- 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's.
Floating Requirements:
- Float to other medical-surgical areas or to units with med/surg patients waiting for a med/surg bed.
