Required Credentials:
- Must pass a Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG exam during onboarding.
Special Requests:
- Cannot have worked at any CommonSpirit location within the last 12 months.
- Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility.
- Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity.
- Travelers will be scheduled; a limited amount of block scheduling may be approved.
Unit Details:
- Med Surg Neuro - 4th Floor North.
- Med/Surg Neuro patients include med/surg tele patients with strokes, stable neurological deficits, post-neurosurgery procedures, and Med Surg overflow.
- Common diagnoses include joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive.
- RNs titrate heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips; PCA pumps are commonly used.
- Tele techs interpret strips; RNs should have some telemetry awareness.
- No RT equipment troubleshooting.
- Mechanical lifts are available in every other room.
- This unit typically has multiple discharges and admissions in one day.
- Patients served include people from diverse cultures, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese populations.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Every other weekend.
- 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's.
Floating Requirements:
- May float to other medical-surgical areas or units with Med Surg patients waiting for a Med Surg bed.
