Additional Details:
Required Credentials:
- Required to pass a Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG exam during onboarding.
- Pass/fail exam on Friday during orientation. Open book exam on skills learned; must receive 90% to pass.
- No license or background hits.
Special Requests:
- An interview may not be available prior to offer.
- Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
- Resume: Each employment history entry must include all the following: detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level (if applicable), patient ratio, teaching facility.
- Cannot have worked at any CommonSpirit location within the last 12 months.
- At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.
- Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility.
- Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
- Travelers will be scheduled. Will approve a limited amount of block scheduling.
Unit Details:
- Med Surg Neuro - 4th Floor North.
- Cares for Med/Surg Tele patients including strokes, stable neurological deficits, post-neurosurgery patients, and Med Surg overflow.
- Common diagnoses include joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive.
- Titrate heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips; PCA pumps used.
- No RT equipment troubleshooting.
- Tele techs interpret; RNs should have some tele awareness.
- Mechanical lifts in every other room.
- Multiple discharges and admissions may occur in a single day.
- Serves patients of varied cultures, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese communities.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Every other weekend.
- Holiday requirements: 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Years.
Floating Requirements:
- Floats to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed.
