Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: Float experience does not count towards the unit experience requirement. Strong oncology background and phlebotomy skills. Must be able to read and interpret strips.
Required Credentials: Upon accepting an offer, you will be assigned Relias exams that must be taken immediately (within 48hrs). If you fail the exam twice, this may result in an immediate cancellation by the facility. EKG exam and Pharm exam must be passed before start.
Special Requests: All time off must be negotiated prior to confirmation.
Unit Details: Staffing ratios: 1:4 RN to Patient, 1:8 Nursing Assistant to Patient (MONC can take up to a 1:5 and even a 1:6 ratio if need be). Primarily adult patients with hematologic or oncologic concerns, immunocompromised, radiation complications, cardiac arrhythmia, complex fluid and medication management, and single and/or multi-system complications. Nursing staff analyze cardiac rhythms on their patients; unit is not monitored by monitor techs. Skills utilized include administering chemotherapy, continuous infusion medication management, pain management, wound vac dressing changes, wound drains, central lines, care of tracheotomy patients, chest tubes, IV start skills, peripheral lab draws, arterial blood draws, various intravenous drips i.e. cardiac, insulin, heparin, and cardiac monitoring.
Shift & Scheduling: 3 out of 4 holidays and 6 weekend shifts within a 6 week schedule. Self-scheduling.
