Required Skills/Experience:
Required experience includes pre- and post-cardiac patients, including stents, pacemakers, ICDs, pre- and post-CABG, and pre- and post-vascular experience.

Special Requests:
At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.
Block scheduling is allowed, with more block scheduling available on nights.

Unit Details:
This is a high-acuity cardiac and cardiothoracic unit caring for surgical patients.
Procedures include femoral and radial heart catheterizations and cardioversions.
Patient population includes pre- and post-cardiac procedure patients, post-thoracotomy patients directly from PACU, CABG patients 24 hours out, post-PCI and vascular procedure patients, and patients with NSTEMI.
The unit also cares for patients with tracheostomies, home ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, and chest tubes.
Drip management includes titratable and set-rate infusions; dobutamine and dopamine are non-titratable, while other infusions are generally titratable.
Common drips include Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, nitroglycerin, dobutamine, and Integrilin.
Monitor technicians perform telemetry monitoring, measuring, and documentation; travelers are not expected to be experts in telemetry strip interpretation.
A rapid-response nurse is available on the unit.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 on days and 1:4-5 on nights.

Shift & Scheduling:
Self-scheduling is allowed.
Weekend requirements are every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month.
Holiday shifts rotate every other holiday across New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Memorial Day, and Labor Day.
No call.

Floating Requirements:
Floating is possible as part of the permanent staff rotation.
