Additional Details:
References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years. All positions at Providence Health & Services require that any and all lab items requested during onboarding be completed within 72 hours of signing a contract - no exceptions. This means candidates must be responsive and willing to go to a lab to complete health orders ASAP after signing. Failure to comply may lead to a pushed start or cancellation as assessed by the facility. You must be able to complete labs within 48 hours of signing.
Required Skills/Experience:
- PICC, midline, and ultrasound-guided peripheral IV competency required.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- 2 years of experience preferred.
- Community hospital experience is preferred.
Required Credentials:
- Cannot have any hits/suspensions on license or any background hits from any point in the past.
- If you have a multistate/compact nursing license, you will be required to complete a one time 6 hour suicide prevention training according to the WA state regulations.
Special Requests:
- All previous perm employees of any Providence affiliated facility must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months to qualify for a travel position.
- RTO must be listed at time of submission.
Unit Details:
- Adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient population.
- PICC, midline, and ultrasound-guided peripheral IV access for difficult or long term vascular access needs.
- PICC/Central Lines, Port-A-Cath/Vascular Device Access/Care, Triple Lumen Catheter.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Every other weekend.
Floating Requirements:
- Must be open to floating to different campuses/units and work on all units for vascular access team duties, including difficult or long term vascular access sticks.
Vascular Access Travel Nurse Job Responsibilities and Salary
Vascular Access nurse job responsibilities include assessing patients to determine the type of vascular access needed, reviewing medications, and troubleshooting and managing existing vascular access, such as dressing changes of PICCs. Vascular Access nurses undergo additional training for PICC line insertion that uses ultrasound equipment. Nurses must perform a minimum of 25 supervised insertions before applying for basic PICC certification.
