    Additional Details:

    You must be able to complete labs within 48 hours of signing.

    Required Skills/Experience:

    • Ultrasound-guided IV placement, vein finder, and IV placement skills required.
    • Pediatric VAS experience required, i.e. Heme/Onc, ICU.

    Unit Details:

    • Adolescent, adult, and pediatric patient population.
    • Patients that have veins that cannot be seen or felt.
    • Vascular access work includes ultrasound-guided techniques, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, IV monitoring, and recommending the appropriate IV type.
    • Specialized ultrasound is used for 75% of IV insertion.

    Shift & Scheduling:

    • Weekend required: Yes.
    • Day/night rotation. Rotate between 7 AM-7:30 PM, 11AM-11:30 PM, and 3 PM-3:30 AM.

    Floating Requirements:

    • Float throughout hospital.

    Vascular Access Travel Nurse Job Responsibilities and Salary

    Vascular Access nurse job responsibilities include assessing patients to determine the type of vascular access needed, reviewing medications, and troubleshooting and managing existing vascular access, such as dressing changes of PICCs. Vascular Access nurses undergo additional training for PICC line insertion that uses ultrasound equipment. Nurses must perform a minimum of 25 supervised insertions before applying for basic PICC certification. Vascular Access nurses are Registered Nurses and many obtain certification in the Vascular Access specialty. The annual salary in the United States for Vascular Access nurses is around $94,000.
