Registered Nurse

Required Skills/Experience:
Must have recent experience with fresh open hearts and mixed ICU patients.

Unit Details:
Ratios 1:1-2; 90% of the time will be 1:2.
Uses GE monitors and vents.
Charge nurse does not take a patient assignment.
No IV team or nurse aides; RT, pharmacy, and hospitalist coverage are available 24/7.

Shift & Scheduling:
Every other weekend.
Must be available to work 2 of the 3 major holidays.
Schedules are made about 6 weeks in advance; self-scheduling is available, with final manager review.

Floating Requirements:
First to float to telemetry or med-surg units.

Required Skills/Experience:
Minimum 2.5 years of recent adult medical/surgical critical care RN experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
Teaching hospital experience is preferred.
Variety in critical care experience preferred: med/surg, cardiac, neuro.
Recent Float Pool, PACU or Emergency Room experience preferred.

Required Credentials:
RNs only: If CA state licensure is 3 months or less from expiration, proof that the renewal process has been initiated is required to apply.

Special Requests:
All RTO must be submitted at time of offer; RTO sent after contract is signed will not be considered.
RTO time must be added to the end of the contract.

Unit Details:
Adult and geriatric patient population.

Shift & Scheduling:
12-hour rotating day/night shifts. One schedule cycle (4 weeks) will be either shift, but may switch to the opposite shift in another schedule cycle depending on need.
Schedule based on operational need; shifts 7-1930/19-0730.

Floating Requirements:
This is a float pool position, not unit based: ICU RNs float to all TCUs and ICUs, ED, and PACU.
Must have the ability to float to other UCSF facilities and departments, including Parnassus, Mission Bay, and Mount Zion.
RNs may float to Acute Care/Tele/TCU units with up to 3:1 assignments and can be assigned to ED or PACU for boarded patients or to assist with tasks.

Travelers will not take balloon pumps.
Pharmacy is not 24/7; after 10pm, night shift nurses may have to mix medications.

Shift & Scheduling:
Every other weekend.
Holidays worked with permanent staff rotation.

Floating Requirements:
First to float.
Float to Tele (1 to 4) or MS (1 to 5).
