Required Skills/Experience: Experience in a Tertiary Care Facility
Required Skills/Experience: Float experience does not count towards the unit experience requirement.
Required Credentials: NIHSS accepted from any issuing body; required after submission and included in the submission packet. EKG and Pharm exams must be passed during the compliance process before start. Math and/or Dysrhythmia exam required. Upon accepting an offer, you will be assigned Relias exams that must be taken immediately within 48 hours. If you fail the exam twice, this may result in immediate cancellation by the facility.
Special Requests: 80-mile local radius rule.
Unit Details: Skills and procedures include NIHSS, lumbar, ventriculostomy and ICP management; management of arterial lines, central lines, various cranial drains, and mechanical ventilation; various intravenous drips including pain, sedation, and vasopressors; temperature management with hypo- and hyperthermia protocols; and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT). Primary population includes acute stroke management, subarachnoid hemorrhage, post-neurosurgical and endovascular management, seizure and status epilepticus management, Guillain-Barré, myasthenia gravis, and other critically ill neuroscience patients.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend.
Floating Requirements: Will be required to float between NSICU and SICU, to areas of equal or lesser care.
