    Special Requests:

    • Previous employment with Sanford Health or Good Samaritan Society must be disclosed, and travelers must have a full 6 months off from those locations.
    • Previous Marshfield employment must be disclosed; prior Marshfield employees must have an end date at least 6 months before submission.
    • Travel pairs accepted.
    • Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.

    Unit Details:

    • Level IV trauma ED; not a STEMI or stroke receiving center, and those patients are transferred out.
    • Fast Track with 3 designated rooms and 2 separate triage rooms; travelers may perform triage after review of facility policies and procedures.
    • Patients are typically held in the department, with attached ACU rooms used for overflow.
    • Psych/seclusion needs can be accommodated in any room as needed.
    • No 24/7 in-house security; maintenance acts as security with local PD/internal code backup and 911.
    • Treats 40-60 patients per day on average.
    • Nurse: Patient Ratios: 1:3-4 during day more at night after 11p, after 3 am only 2 RN until 7a.
    • Common diagnoses/types of patients: variable, traumas, STEMI, strokes, hunting, MVAs, farmers.
    • Charge nurse takes an assignment.
    • 24/7 huck coverage; support staff include CNAs, medics, and LPNs who float around to task.
    • RT is in house 24/7 for ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKG assistance.
    • No monitor tech; central monitoring station in use.
    • X-ray is down the hall and available 24/7; CT is just outside the unit.
    • 24/7 phlebotomy draws labs.

    Shift & Scheduling:

    • Manager makes the schedule, tries to avoid 1 on/1 off patterns, and travelers need to rotate variable start times.
    • Every other weekend.
    • Holidays: 2/3 at least for winter needs; otherwise usually every other during the contract.

    Floating Requirements:

    • Float to inpatient units for helping hands.
