Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience:
- 2+ years of experience with cervical exams.
- 2+ years of experience with infant delivery; deliveries will occasionally need RN assistance while the on-call physician reports.
- Charge-level experience required.
- Postpartum couplet care experience required.
- Nursery experience in a Level 2 nursery or higher acuity for SCN positions.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Required Credentials:
- Area-specific competency exam required.
- NRP must be from American Heart Association.
- AWHONN must be renewed every 2 years.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Fetal monitoring preferred.
- Stabilization of a neonate preferred.
- Troubleshooting high-acuity situations preferred.
Preferred Credentials:
- BSN preferred.
Unit Details:
- Includes Labor & Delivery, Level 2 SCN, and postpartum care.
- Adult and newborn patient population.
- Common diagnoses/treatments include labor, GDM, hypertension, IUGR, macrosomia, and drug use in pregnancy.
- Uses fetal monitors, ISTAT, Freestyle, and Fetalink.
- Not a teaching hospital; no resident physicians.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Weekend hours vary.
- No call.
