Unit Details:
Med Surg Neuro - 4th Floor North.
Cares for med/surg tele patients including strokes, stable neurological deficits, post-neurosurgery patients, and Med Surg overflow.
Common patient populations/cases include joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive.
Titrate drips including heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine; PCA pumps are used.
Tele techs interpret monitors; RNs should have some telemetry awareness.
No RT equipment troubleshooting.
Mechanical lifts available in every other room.
High-turnover unit with multiple discharges and admissions in one day.
Serves a culturally diverse patient population, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese patients.

Shift & Scheduling:
Every other weekend required; additional weekend shifts may be required based on unit needs and census.
2-3 holidays required from Thanksgiving through New Year's.

Floating Requirements:
Float to other medical-surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed.

- Total knee replacements, total hip replacements, ankle replacements, total shoulders, and spine cases involving back and neck.
- No titratable drips; common drips include pain medications, antibiotics, and blood.
- Uses tele boxes; tele techs read and interpret strips.

Shift & Scheduling:
- Self-scheduling with cyclic rotation.
- Every other weekend.
- Holidays rotate with permanent staff.
- If placed on call and called back in, arrival is required within 30 minutes.

Floating Requirements:
- Float to Med Surg, rehab, or PCU taking Med Surg acuity.

Charge RN nights. Charge nurses ideally do not take patients, but may take patients at night if staffing is short; rarely, they may take patients if census is less than 22.
Dyad model with dedicated CNA support and virtual nurse support; virtual nurse ratio 1:30.
Common patient populations include medical, surgical, and orthopedic patients.
Heparin is the only titratable drip on the unit.
Tele is available on the floor with a centralized tele station.
RT is available on the floor 24 hours.

Shift & Scheduling:
Weekends as needed.
Holidays as needed.
No call.

Float to PCU or Burn.

Unit Details:
- 1:5-6 days and nights; must be able to take 6. High turnover on days — if you discharge, you will get an admit.
- Older teens and adults; diagnoses include pneumonia, UTI, dehydration, influenza, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory virus, and surgical patients including orthopedics, general surgery, spinal surgery, and urology.
- Titrates heparin; set-rate Bumex and Lasix.
- Cardiac tech available 24/7; RNs are not required to read their own strips and will call the cardiac tech if telemetry is ordered.
- Nursing supervisor available 24/7. Days have two charge nurses; nights have one charge nurse; charge nurses generally do not take patients.
- CNA support ratio 1:8-1:10; CNAs can do accuchecks and vital signs.
- Trachs, Cpap for OSA, Bipap, and High Flow; Respiratory Therapy support 24/7.

Shift & Scheduling:
- Mix of days and nights; 6-630.
- No self-scheduling for travel RNs.
- Weekend requirement: as needed.
- Holiday requirement: as needed.
- Call/standby is low-census/cancellation only.

Floating Requirements:
- May float to IMCU for MS assignments.

No routine call; call is only assigned if a traveler requests a scheduled shift off or volunteers to cancel.

Floating Requirements:
Can float to PCU, taking MedSurg overflow or very low-acuity PCU patients.
