Required Skills/Experience: Smartphone required to communicate with physicians via TigerConnect app. IV starts and blood draws, NG tube placements, ECG rhythm interpretation, lab and ABG interpretation, critical care drips and titrations, management of ventilators, arterial lines, chest tubes, central venous lines (including Large-Volume Vas Caths), and assisting physicians with bedside procedures and conscious sedation.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Prior experience in a teaching hospital with resident physicians preferred. High-acuity ICU experience managing CRRT, IABP, arterial sheath pulls, and other devices preferred. Prior experience in SICU, MICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, and PCU/med-surg preferred.
Unit Details: Adult and geriatric patient population. Common diagnoses/treatments include respiratory failure, ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, septic shock, GI bleeds, post-operative GI disorders, CABGs, and vascular procedures. Patient ratios: CCU 1:2, 1:3; CVICU 1:2, 1:3; CCSD 1:4, 1:5; Med-surg 1:6. Uses SpaceLabs bedside monitoring with continuous ECG, O2, respiratory, BP, CVP, and PA monitoring, Baxter/Spectrum IV pumps, Kangaroo feeding pumps, Hill-Rom critical care beds, ventilators, Prismaflex CRRT machines, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, Blanketrols, Arctic Sun, Rapid-Transfusion, fluid warming, and Zoll monitoring.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. No call.
Floating Requirements: Home unit is CCU; will float first to CVICU or CCSD if needed and may float to med-surg departments if critical care areas are staffed.
