Unit Details: Uses Allscripts. Respiratory therapist in unit 24/7. Support staff includes patient care technician and health unit secretary. Common cases include left heart caths, coronary interventions, STEMIs, IVUS, IFR/FFR, temporary pacemaker insertion, IABP insertion, pneumonia, vents, post caths, EVAR, surgeries, ETOH/OD, ARDS, DKA, CVA after tPA, afib RVR, sepsis, and renal failure. Equipment includes GE floor-mounted C-Arm and table, Volcano System, Change Healthcare Cardiology Hemo System, and Getinge IABP. No open heart or neuro surgery; no fresh transplants, though patients may have a history of transplant. IABP skill not required. Common drips include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Levophed, Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Vecuronium, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Lasix, Insulin, Heparin (weight based), and Norepinephrine. The number of vents varies monthly; typically 1-2 at all times. House Supervisor, called the Administrative Shift Coordinator (ASC), is in house 24/7.

Shift & Scheduling: 3 weekend shifts per 4 week schedule minimum. No call.

Floating Requirements: May float to ED or MS if experienced.
