Required Skills/Experience: Travel nursing for 1 year or less in the past 5 years. Minimum 4 years recent ICU experience. ECMO experience within the last 6 month to 1 year. Must have experience with ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD, CRRT, and PA catheters. Experience caring for ECMO patients as a bedside RN. Experience caring for ECMO as the primary responsibility without dedicated bedside perfusion support. Ability to independently manage complex critical care patients. CVICU/CTICU/CCU experience.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Variety in critical care experience preferred: med/surg, cardiac, neuro. Recent Float Pool, PACU, or Emergency Room experience preferred. Strongly preferred: VA ECMO, VV ECMO, V-PA ECMO, CRRT (NxStage), IABP (Teleflex), Impella, ventricular assist devices, heart failure/cardiogenic shock, pulmonary artery catheters, prostacyclin therapies, cardiothoracic surgery recovery, heart transplant recovery, lung transplant recovery, heart transplant, lung transplant, and bridge to transplant. Academic medical center experience preferred. Simultaneous management of multiple support devices (e.g. ECMO + CRRT, ECMO + Impella, ECMO + IABP) preferred. Teaching hospital experience is preferred.
Special Requests: Please submit all RTO at time of offer. RTO sent after contract is signed will not be considered. RTO time must be added back to the end of the contract. RNs only: If CA state licensure is 3 months or less from expiration, proof that the renewal process has been initiated is required to apply. You must be able to complete labs within 48 hours of signing.
Unit Details: Adult and geriatric patient population.
Shift & Scheduling: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts: 7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30. One 4-week schedule cycle will be either shift, but may switch to the opposite shift in another schedule cycle depending on need.
Floating Requirements: Must have the ability to float to other UCSF facilities and other UCSF departments. Float pool position, not unit based. ICU RNs float to all TCUs and ICUs, ED, and PACU. Ability to float to any UCSF campus. All travel RNs can be assigned to all UCSF sites: Parnassus, Mission Bay, or Mount Zion. RNs may float to Acute Care/Tele/TCU units with up to 3:1 assignment. All travel RNs can be assigned to ED for boarded patients or assist with tasks/PACU for boarded patients.
