Additional Details:
Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.
If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility.
Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.
References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.
- Must be able to titrate Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin drips; insulin is set-rate only.
Special Requests:
- Block scheduling may be available based on unit needs.
Unit Details:
- Float pool covers MedSurg/tele and stepdown patient care.
- MedSurg patient population includes post-surgical, ortho, pneumonia, dialysis, palliative care, hospice, end-of-life, and low-volume inpatient chemo.
- Stepdown patient population includes heavy cardiac, dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients downgraded from the ICU.
- Ratios: MedSurg 1:6-7; stepdown 1:4-5, or 1:6 for MedSurg acuity.
- On MedSurg, telemetry patients are monitored remotely by the monitor tech on the 3rd floor.
- May be assigned both clean and COVID-designated patients at the same time.
- Uses BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow; MedSurg may include Heparin and MSO4 for comfort measures.
- Limited ancillary support on nights: no CNAs on MedSurg units overnight and no CNA on stepdown after 11p.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Every other weekend. On stepdown nights, weekend pattern is Fri/Sat/Sun. On MedSurg units, weekend shifts are Sat/Sun and 2 Fridays per schedule are required.
- Holiday rotation with permanent staff; stepdown works every other holiday.
Floating Requirements:
- Flex Team floats to MS units, stepdown, IRU (rehab), and ED holding.
- MS float assignments may include 1E/S, 1W, 2E/S, and 4E; stepdown is IMCU/3W.
- ED holding includes inpatient MedSurg or stepdown patients.
- Could float to ICU as helping hands.
