Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience:
- 1 year Cardiac Tele, inpatient only.
- Reading telemetry.
- Experience with CHF, chest pain, renal, and hemodialysis patients.
- Amio and Cardizem drips.
- Central lines (HD caths, ports, PICCs).
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Tikosyn and Sotalol initiation.
- Potential for dopamine, dobutamine, lidocaine, nitro, and milrinone drips.
- Chest tubes and other drains.
- CIWA (withdrawal) protocol.
Special Requests:
- Blocked scheduling (no specific days) may be approved based on facility requirements.
- RTO of 5 days or less must make up the week on the back end.
- Holiday RTO: can request only 1 per assignment.
Unit Details:
- Fast-paced, high-acuity cardiac telemetry unit.
- Monitor techs watch patients; there are also tele monitors at each nurse station.
- Patient population includes CHF, chest pain, arrhythmias (mostly AFib, flutter, SVT), respiratory, renal, and hemodialysis patients; overflow patients include sepsis, urology, surgical, ETOH/drug withdrawals, isolation, and GI bleeds.
- Uses lift equipment, bladder scanner, interpreter iPad, and BiPAP monitoring.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week.
- Weekends as required by facility/every other weekend.
- Call Requirements: None.
- Night shift orients on day shift. Traveler must be available the entire week for orientation.
Floating Requirements:
- As needed, to a similar or lower acuity unit.
