Clinician must complete Additional skills section of resume with detailed description of patient populations and procedures worked for each work history.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Two (2) years of Med/Surg experience.
- Wound and colostomy experience.
Required Credentials:
- Must have NYS Nursing License Registration and NYS copy of physical license/diploma for submission.
- Associates Degree (ASN, ADN) from an accreditated Nursing Program.
- Current certification in one of the following: Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) issued by the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB); Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) issued by the WOCNCB; Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) issued by the WOCNCB; Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) issued by the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM); or Wound Care Certified Certification (WCC) issued by the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO).
- Individual Professional Liability coverage is mandatory for the assignment duration. Only individual malpractice insurance is accepted by the facility.
Special Requests:
- All time off and special requests should be discussed directly with managers upon arrival; no pre-approval.
- Clinicians must start assignments within 30 days of receiving an offer.
Unit Details:
- Conducts health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence-related care; performs focused physical assessments; develops plans of care based on diagnosis and individual client needs; and recommends medications and treatments as appropriate.
- Assesses and documents patient response to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wound treatment.
- Provides patient, family, and staff education, and develops, provides, and evaluates staff education programs, including new employee orientation, in-services, and continuing education programs.
- Routinely performs comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for developing pressure injuries and initiates preventative measures.
- Assists with selection of supplies, technology, and equipment; asset management includes specialty beds and negative pressure devices.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Rotating weekends and holidays required.
- No on-call.
- Overtime not allowed at NYCHH facilities; written manager approval is required in rare cases.
