Required Skills/Experience:
- Competent triage skills required.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- At least 2 years of critical access ED experience preferred.
Required Credentials:
- PALS is accepted in place of ENPC.
- You are required to pass a Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG exam during onboarding.
Special Requests:
- Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
- Cannot have worked at any CommonSpirit location within the last 12 months and may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year.
- Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility.
- RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after submission.
Unit Details:
- Ratios vary by acuity; 1:3 is common.
- Treats patients across the lifespan from newborn to geriatric with respiratory, cardiac, trauma, and stroke presentations.
- Separate triage room; travelers are expected to perform triage.
- Includes 1 locked seclusion room within the unit.
- No in-house security; local police are used for emergencies.
- Common drips include norepinephrine, nitroglycerin, heparin, amiodarone, and propofol.
- One provider is in house 24/7.
- CNA/tech support is available 1400-2230 for transport prep, vital signs, room turnover, stocking, EKGs, swabs, and splinting if trained.
- RT is onsite during daytime hours and on call at night; RNs may need to initiate respiratory support with verbal assistance from RT if needed.
- No tele/monitor techs; RNs read their own telemetry strips.
- Uses Phillips telemetry monitors.
- ED staff assist with transport; all stroke activations require the RN to accompany the patient to CT.
- Both phlebotomy and RNs draw labs.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Fri-Sat-Sun schedule; manager is open to every other weekend.
- Every other holiday.
- No call.
- 12hr shifts 7-7 both nights and days. The schedule comes out in 6 week blocks - Rotating days/nights, we allow for turn around time & we do not schedule a day shift then a night shift.
