Required Skills/Experience:
- Float experience does not count toward the unit experience requirement.
- 1 year of experience caring for ECMO patients.
- Trained in CRRT.
- Trained in Phase One Cardiac Surgery Recovery.
- Trained in Targeted Temperature Management.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of all aspects of ECMO therapy including but not limited to the ECMO circuit and pump, adjustments to pump flow, sweep flow, FiDO2, anticoagulation therapy, point of care testing, patient monitoring systems, and related policies and procedure guidelines.
Unit Details:
- Assist the physician, bedside RN, and other clinical staff members, including perfusionist, with initiation of ECMO, day-to-day maintenance of ECMO, discontinuation of ECMO, and circuit or component changes, priming, blood bank communications, and medication administration.
- Includes management of other mechanical support devices such as Impella, IABP, and VADs.
- Will manage up to 3 circuits at a time; if only one patient, can manage circuit and patient.
