Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience:
- C-section experience required.
- Must be proficient in fetal monitoring and the actions taken for fetal distress.
- Must be able to care for patients with pre-eclampsia.
- Clinical background in high-risk patients. Since there is not an in-house OB, the nurses need to be very proficient with their assessment skills and be able to handle OB emergencies until the provider arrives.
- Must be able to function in labor and delivery and couplet care (they don't always utilize their LDRPs as couplet care beds, but can do so if census is low).
Unit Details:
- Respiratory therapist in unit 24/7.
- Support staff on unit: patient care technician, health unit secretary, OB scrub tech, HUC.
- OB/Neonatologist not in house.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule minimum.
- Call: one shift per 4-week schedule.
Floating Requirements:
- May float to ED or MS if experienced.
- May float to other units of hospital (usually MedSurg) if needed.
