Required Skills/Experience:

• Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit.
• Must have heparin gtt experience; RNs titrate heparin drips based on PTT.

Special Requests:

• Block scheduling may be possible with staffing.

Unit Details:

• Neuro Med-Surg acute patient population includes stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, neuroscience patients, and some medical overflow.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: days 1:4-5, nights 1:5-6.
• House-wide telemetry; nurses do not read their own strips. Uses Phillips monitors.
• High flow for stable COVID patients only; this is rare on the unit.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Every other weekend; Saturday and Sunday are considered the weekend on both shifts.
• Every other holiday.
• No call.

Floating Requirements:

• Float in rotation with the rest of staff. General unit travelers float to general unit floors and take a full team. If floated outside the general unit in urgent need, assignments are limited to skills the clinician is competent to perform and paired with a nurse trained for that unit.
