Additional Information
Required Skills/Experience:
- 1 year, at least 6 months of this needs to be neuro.
Special Requests:
- First-time travelers accepted with manager approval.
- RTO requests go through manager.
Unit Details:
- Neuro-focused rehab unit with traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury (SCI), stroke/CVA, amputee, burn, pediatric and multi-trauma, pneumonia, tunneled catheter, and post-craniotomy patients with shunts; average 14-day stay.
- Travelers are not expected to care for pediatric patients.
- Dialysis patients are sent to HD; PD patients are taken to the cycler area.
- 1:6-7; typically could go up to 7 2-3 times per month.
- Requires trach care, vent care, IVs, PICC and central lines, wound care, bowel programs, TPN, drains/tubes, care of pulmonary patients with trachs and laryngectomies, and G-tube/PEG-tube tube feeds; VADs are managed by core staff.
- Phlebotomy support is available, but RNs are ultimately responsible.
- PCA/CNA ratio 1:7-8.
- Unit coordinators available 0700-2300; support includes MDs, NPs, residents, PT/OT/ST, and leadership.
- No monitors on unit; Vital Sync monitors connect to OxyNet with centralized night monitoring.
- Uses Plum 360 IV pumps and Omnicell.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Every third weekend.
- No call.
- Will be expected to work some holidays. If there are back-to-back holidays during the contract, assignment will be one holiday grouping, not both.
- Schedule cycle is 6 weeks at a time.
Floating Requirements:
- Could float within scope of practice. All staff float evenly; Float Pool is primarily used for floating.
