Additional Information
Required Credentials:
- Graduate from an accredited college, university or nursing program with a degree/diploma in nursing.
- A valid driver's license.
Special Requests:
- U.S. citizenship required for facility clearance.
Unit Details:
- Correctional nursing role caring for inmate/resident population.
- Applies nursing and supervisory techniques in the care, treatment, and referral of inmates/residents.
- Attend sick call with the physician; prepare inmates/residents for examination and prepare exam room and equipment.
- Operate pill call, dispense medication, and document as required by policy.
- Examine and assess new inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries, or inmates/residents who become ill or injured; refer to the emergency room or other appropriate healthcare facility as required by condition.
- Provide guidance, supervise, and monitor nursing care provided by licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
- Inspect the medical unit for items that could be used as contraband and securely store or safely dispose of supplies and equipment.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Schedule to be determined by facility needs; no specific or set schedules.
- Open availability required per the CoreCivic scheduling policy.
