Required Skills/Experience: Experience with IV chemotherapy and immunotherapy regimens and administration — hanging/handling precautions (PPE) for chemotherapy, along with monitoring for medication side effects.

Unit Details: Patient ratios: 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights; may vary to 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights. 1:1 staffing for specific medications/therapies. Patient population includes all cancer types, especially lymphoma and leukemia, plus hematology, general medical, radiation oncology, and Gyn/Onc patients. No titratable drips; medication adjustments require a physician order. Set-rate drips include heparin and 24-hour methotrexate chemotherapy bags. Uses house-wide telemetry with Phillips monitors; RNs do not read or interpret strips. CPAP is used on the unit; BiPAP only if it is the patient's home nighttime regimen, with RT managing both CPAP and BiPAP 24/7. Uses Epic Beacon for EMR documentation.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend; for nights, weekend is Fri/Sat as staffing permits. Every other holiday. No call.

Floating Requirements: Added to the float rotation with other RNs for any other Gen Med level of care. A floating episode can consist of 4 hours or greater. Floating is assigned to the RN whose last float was furthest in the past.
