Required Skills/Experience:

• 3 years of recent PICU experience required.
• Prior travel experience (1-2 assignments) required.

Required Credentials:

• Must pass fit test; no facial hair unless for religious beliefs.

Unit Details:

• Nurse/patient ratios: PICU 1:1-2; IMCU 1:3-4.
• Ancillary assistance includes 1-2 PCTs per shift.
• PICU has residents, fellows, and attending physicians; IMCU has hospitalist coverage until 11PM, then residents.
• Uses Pyxis with bar code scanning, pharmacy dose, GE Dash, Servi I, and long-term vents in the IMCU. Transport system is in house. RTs and RNs manage ventilators.
• Patient population includes PICU patients with respiratory distress, CRRT, ECMO, post arrest, trauma (blunt and penetrating), neuro, surgical post-ops, urology, ortho, ENT cases including trach revision and occasional cleft lip/palate, burns if intubated and < 13 years, and new-onset DKA.
• IMCU typically sees respiratory distress, DKA, chronic vents, trachs, and diagnoses stepped out of the PICU.
• Renal transplant patients may be seen.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Manager/scheduler driven; no self scheduling.
• Every other weekend required.
• No on-call.
• Holidays as needed.

Floating Requirements:

• May float to NICU, CVICU, IMCU, or Burn ICU as needed. Travelers are first to float.
