Required Skills/Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years of travel experience.
Minimum 2 years of experience in geriatric psych nursing is required.
At least 2 years of direct experience working in mental health settings, such as state hospitals or facilities specifically dedicated to mental health care, is required.
If a candidate's background is solely in geriatric care within nursing homes or long-term care facilities, or hospice, a minimum of 5 years of experience in this field is expected.
Candidates coming from a medical urgent care or emergency room background should have at least 4 years of relevant experience.
Must be highly skilled in de-escalation.
Knowledge of current psychopharmacology is required.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
Experience working with psychiatric inpatient treatment programs is preferred.

Required Credentials:
All clinicians assigned to Montana State Hospital are required to hold an Advanced Physical Skills (APS) Blue CPI card issued by the Crisis Prevention Institute (www.crisisprevention.com). If you don't already have this certification, you will be enrolled in the necessary course during your first week of orientation.
Must be a graduate of an accredited college or university degree in nursing.

Unit Details:
Registered nurses provide assistance and support to clients in maintaining a therapeutic environment.
This position performs nursing assessment, planning, interventions, and evaluation for adult clients in the facility.
Responsibilities include assigning work and providing direction and training to subordinate nursing personnel.

Shift & Scheduling:
Must be flexible with facility scheduling.
