Required Skills/Experience:
Must have 1-2 years of experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
RN experience with respiratory/vented patients strongly preferred.

Unit Details:
Patients are respiratory-focused and vent-dependent.
The unit is a medical environment rather than a traditional Med/Surg setting.
Nurses do not manage ventilators; respiratory therapists handle ventilators.
Unit procedures include IV starts, managing drips, administering blood, EKGs, medication titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, complex and simple wound dressings, tracheostomy care, suctioning, straight catheterization, Foley care, port access, central line dressing changes, and wound measurements.

Shift & Scheduling:
The traveler can choose 8-hour nights (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM) or 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM).
Every other weekend is required.

Floating Requirements:
Floats to chronic care units including RCU2, SDU, and TRU; travelers float first. During a 12-hour shift, may work on one unit for 4 hours and another for 8 hours.
Respiratory Step-Down Unit float ratios are D/E 1:9 and N 1:12; TRU (TBI, medically complex chronic care) float ratios are D/E 1:7-10 and N 1:12.
