    Preferred Skills/Experience:
Previous experience in a very busy hospital is preferred.

    Special Requests:
An interview may not be available prior to offer.
Resume: Each employment history entry must include all the following: detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level (if applicable), patient ratio, teaching facility.
Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.
Submission Limit: Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility.
Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: Must disclose previous employment on your resume or elsewhere within the submission for a DNU check.
Parking costs $15+/day, with on- and off-campus garage and lot options ranging from $95-$120 per monthly parking pass.

    Unit Details:
Common diagnoses and procedures include liver/kidney transplant; vascular surgeries such as endarterectomies and fem/pop bypass; ENT for cancer; facial flaps; throat cancer resection; complicated throat/esophageal infections that compromise the airway; and abdominal surgery such as colectomy, ex-laps, abdominal aneurysm, mastectomy, and deep-tissue flaps.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 or 1:3 depending on downgrade, acuity, or emergency admission; emergency admissions are infrequent when staffed.
RNs are required to titrate drips.
Common titratable and/or set-rate drips include vasopressin, epinephrine, Levophed, heparin, dobutamine, dopamine, Versed, hydromorphone, fentanyl, ketamine, Nimbex, esmolol, and Cardene.
Intensivists are on the unit days and/or nights, and APPs are on the unit 24/7.
Respiratory therapists are in the ICU 24/7.
Respiratory equipment includes ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow; RNs are generally not required to do more than troubleshoot this equipment.
No monitor technicians are assigned; RNs read their own strips on Philips monitors.
Patient care tech support is intermittent and depends on census; when present, the ratio is 1:12, and duties include patient ADLs, blood glucose checks, and transport assistance.

    Shift & Scheduling:
Candidates need to be flexible on scheduling; self-scheduling is not available, and scheduling is based on unit needs.
Weekend requirements are 4-6 days in 6 weeks, depending on coverage.
Standby may be flexed off if census is low; standby is required only if the unit closes for low census, which is not usually a problem and may occur about once per year.

    Floating Requirements:
The clinician is first to float, followed by OT floats and then the remainder of staff; floating is to other ICUs within the hospital, with the skill set considered for the assignment.

Pre-employment modules may be required for this role. Please upload any certifications or health documents you have to your profile to expedite your on-boarding process.

To help match you with the right jobs, we use AI tools (our own and some from outside partners) to review your application and see how your background lines up with what each role needs. By applying, you agree to let us use your application and personal data for this.

Travel RN Job Salary & Responsibilities

Your travel RN salary is based on your specialty, experience, and where you secure your assignment. Registered Nurse job descriptions focus on technical knowledge and supervisory skills; attention to detail; and communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals in critical situations. But, an RN’s responsibilities also require a combination of compassion, patience, and resilience.

This isn’t news to you. You came to Trusted because you’ve tried RN staffing agencies without the personal support you need. This doesn’t surprise us, either. We’re a team of Trusted nurses who’ve been in your shoes (those comfy, non-slip shoes). We’ll help advance your career on your terms.
