Additional Details:
Dress Code: Artificial nails are not permitted. Hair coloring must be natural colors; acceptable hair coverings should be worn if hair coloring is outside natural color. Visible face and neck tattoos are not acceptable. Tattoos reflecting racial, nudity, or derogatory images or words must be covered.
References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you are applying to.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Must be able to titrate all critical drips and mix drips, e.g. Amio, Cardizem, Epi, and insulin.
- RNs are required to read and interpret telemetry and EKGs.
- Will accept trauma level 1 and 2 ED experience.
- First-time travelers accepted.
Special Requests:
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed; manager will ask for an ideal schedule, but travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent schedules. Manager will try to accommodate agency nurse requests; however, special schedule requests will not take priority over staff scheduling needs.
Unit Details:
- Cares for patients ranging from minor injuries to major traumas; STEMIs and strokes are transferred out. Common cases include crush injuries, burns, loss of fingers, and similar high-acuity injuries related to the nearby oil field.
- Lower-acuity walk-in patients are seen in the attached family practice clinic.
- RNs may be expected to manage respiratory equipment, perform respiratory treatments, obtain 12-lead EKGs, and draw labs if needed.
- Travelers are not expected to take charge; charge responsibilities are handled by staff RNs and include EMS coordination, throughput, and ED flow.
- ED techs/CNAs assist with secretary duties, vital signs, ADLs, and I/Os.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Every other weekend.
- May be asked to participate in holiday rotation.
- No call.
