Required Credentials:
- Successful completion of EKG course.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year ICU/inpatient experience preferred.
Preferred Credentials:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
Unit Details:
- Cares for patients from newborns (28 days) to end of life.
- Patient ratios: 2:1 for all ICU status patients. If Med Surg status patients are in the unit, the ICU nurse often takes 4:1 if there are no current ICU status patients.
- Patient population includes DKA, cardiac, sepsis, surgical, and high-risk-of-decline patients.
- Additional unit-specific duties include family birthing, procedural sedation, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care (including complications), rapid sequence intubation, fetal monitoring, advanced cardiac monitoring, NST, rapid infuser, epidural, critical drips, induction, trauma alert, newborn care (delivery to discharge), CVP and A-line monitoring, ventilator/BiPAP, hearing screening, pre-term care, infant security, EMTALA, CCHD screening, and phototherapy.
