Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed. If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility. References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.
Required Skills/Experience: Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.
Special Requests: Cumulative experience applies for previous travelers who are current/previous employees.
Unit Details: Common patient population includes CHF, cardiac cath, chest pain, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, orthopedic, and oncology patients; permanent staff administer chemotherapy. Ratios are mainly 1:5-6 on days and nights; once or twice a month assignments could reach 7 patients toward the end of the shift depending on acuity. Will not titrate drips. All units use CNAs. CPAP and BiPap only; RT manages. Uses Philips monitors; most units have monitor techs. Day charge nurses do not take patient assignments; night charge nurses do.
Shift & Scheduling: Weekend day schedule. Work in the holiday rotation with permanent staff.
Floating Requirements: Most frequent float units are 6N and 7N; other float units include 4N, 5S, 6S, and Critical Care. Float Pool RNs report to the clinical coordinator's office prior to shift start for unit assignment, may float to all 6 units, will most likely be assigned a parent unit, and will only be assigned very basic telemetry patients within scope of practice.
