Required Skills/Experience:

• Two (2) years of Med/Surg experience.
• Colostomy experience required.

Required Credentials:

• Associates Degree (ASN, ADN) from an accredited Nursing Program.
• Individual Professional Liability coverage is mandatory for assignment duration (Only individual malpractice insurance is accepted by the facility).

Special Requests:

• All time off and special requests should be discussed directly with managers upon arrival (no pre-approval).
• Clinicians must start assignments within 30 days of receiving an offer.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Overtime not allowed at NYCHH facilities (requires written manager approval in rare cases).
• No call.

Unit Details:

• Conducts health assessment interview focused on wound, ostomy, and continence-related care. Performs focused physical assessment, develops plan of care based on the diagnosis and individual client needs, and recommends medications and treatments as appropriate.
• Develops, revises, and evaluates standards of care and assists in selecting supplies, technology, and equipment.
• Assesses and documents patient response to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex-wound treatment; evaluates the quality and delivery of care provided by clinical staff on the unit.
• Provides education and counseling to individuals and families to help prevent complications related to ostomies, wounds, and continence problems.
• Develops, provides, and evaluates staff education programs, including new-employee orientation, in-services, and continuing education programs.
• Routinely provides comprehensive assessments for patients at risk of developing pressure injuries and initiates preventive measures.
• Participates in unit/department and hospital-wide quality-improvement activities, including incidence and prevalence studies and nursing quality.
• Manages rented equipment, including specialty beds and negative-pressure devices.
