Required Skills/Experience:
- Minimum one prior travel assignment; first-time travelers are not accepted.
- If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience excluding travel and have significant RN experience outside of ICU, management approval may be considered.
- Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- 2 years of ICU experience excluding travel experience is most preferred.
- Cardiac experience is preferred: CABG/TAVR; 24 to 48 hrs post-op experience is preferred but not required for travelers.
- Impella, IABP, and CRRT strongly preferred.
Special Requests:
- You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit & shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit & facility.
- Travelers must live 100 miles away from any Monument Health facility.
- Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler.
- Requested time off will not be accepted between 8/5/26-8/20/26.
- No RTO during holidays.
- Up to 7 days; must extend to accommodate a full 13-week contract.
Unit Details:
- Mixed ICU with MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU pods; all one ICU divided into pods.
- Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma.
- Diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multiple-system trauma; heavy trauma population.
- RN ratios: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 (rare) - acuity dependent.
- Fresh open hearts are generally assigned to permanent staff; travelers may take them only if experienced and facility-approved.
- Peripheral blood draws only; ICU CRNs place all midlines.
- Uses Alaris pumps (switching to Baxter pumps by October) and Omnicell.
- Could be expected to precept students.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation: try for every other weekend, not guaranteed.
- No call.
Floating Requirements:
- Would not float to the CVICU side unless experienced in that unit/specialty.
- ICU RN qualified to float to ED.
- Not common unless overstaffed; could float to any adult floor, including Med/Surg/Tele with a 1:4 ratio.
