References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.
Required Skills/Experience: Ventriculostomy, ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, tPA, acute stroke management, post craniectomy.
Unit Details: Common patient types include strokes with/without tPA and crani patients. RNs are required to titrate drips and manage drips per physician orders. Unit uses vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow equipment. Nurses read and interpret their own telemetry strips. Uses Phillips monitors, with a tele tech staffed every shift. Charge nurse is usually free but may take an assignment if staffing requires; house supervisor available 24/7. Patient care tech support ratio is 9:1.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. Rotating every other holiday.
Floating Requirements: Travelers float first. As a higher level of care, nurses can float to any unit in the hospital, including intermediate and general floors. INT is a 1:3 ratio; on a general floor they would take 1:4.
