OR RNs only: Application must include either an OR - Circulating or an OR - Scrub skills checklist, in addition to the OR - RN checklist.
Required Skills/Experience: 1 year - must have inpatient dialysis experience. First-time travelers must have 2 years of perm staff RN experience in acute care. Accessing fistulas and dialysis catheters required.
Required Credentials: Must pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival.
Special Requests: Travelers must be separated for 1 year if previously permanent staff. Must extend for any full week of RTO. May request only 1 weekend off per 13-week contract.
Unit Details: Cares for hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients. RN ratios: 1:3 in inpatient pods; 1:1 on units. Uses BBraun dialysis machines, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis.
Shift & Scheduling: 4-12s one week and 3-12s the next week; this is mandatory. Schedule cycle: 4 weeks. Monday-Saturday; shift times 8a-8p or 10a-10p. Every other weekend; Fri/Sat/Sun is the goal. RTO up to 7 days. 5-6 call shifts per 4-week schedule. 12 hr shift and 12 hr call are done on the same day. 3 people on call per night based on facility being covered. Sunday call is the same on every schedule; 1st Sunday is always 1st. Closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. Will work the Sunday before or after holidays. Minor holidays are regular days. Sunday is a 24 hr call day. Will work 2/3 holidays.
Floating Requirements: Main campus is WKMC (WK North); frequent floating to Bossier, Pierremont, and South. Facilities are within 15-30 minutes of each other. Will be notified the day before which facility to report to for the next day. Need to clock in at all facilities.
