Unit Details:
The patient population includes pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients, including patients up to age 26; congenital disease processes are evaluated across the lifespan.
The PICU cares for a broad range of patients, including cardiothoracic and trauma patients; there is no dedicated cardiothoracic or trauma unit, so these patients are cared for in the PICU.
Unit context includes an ECMO program, CRRT, post-op heart care, and neurosurgical care.
Travelers must be comfortable caring for patients with varied ages, diagnoses, and acuity levels.

Shift & Scheduling:
Every other weekend.

Floating Requirements:
Travelers must be willing to float between the Akron Main Campus and the Summa location as needed.
Travelers may also be assigned to support the Burn Center, which primarily cares for patients who do not require intensive care and is not exclusively an intensive care unit.
Float frequency will vary based on operational needs and cannot be guaranteed.
Travelers are first to float to all acute care inpatient units, including NICU, but will be accompanied if asked to float to NICU.
Home-unit staff will support travelers regardless of their assigned location.

All time off requests must be submitted at application. Scheduling requests must be worked out with the manager directly upon starting the assignment.
