Required Skills/Experience:
2 years PICU, at least 1 year needs to be PCICU.
Experience with cardiac patients, surgeries, and diagnoses; aseptic and sterile technique; basic dressing changes; ventilator and trach management; suctioning; G/GJ/J-tube management; NG tubes; chest tubes; epidurals; PCA pumps; drip management; Foley insertion/management; central line dressing changes and care; central line blood draws; peripheral lab draws; and discharging patients.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
ECMO and peritoneal dialysis experience preferred, not required.

Required Credentials:
If you have a multistate license, you will be required to complete a 1-time 6-hour suicide prevention training according to WA state regulations.

Unit Details:
Mixed PICU/PCICU with neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and medical patients. This position will be predominantly PCICU patients, but could also care for general PICU patients.
Cardiovascular/thoracic cases include congenital heart defects (patients stay from surgery until discharge), stat category 1, 2, 3, and occasionally 4, fresh open hearts, post-cath, medical cardiac patients (CHF, cardiomyopathy, myocarditis), post-cardiac arrest, and some thoracic cases.
Respiratory cases include hi-flow, CPAP, BiPAP, trachs, RSV, asthma, and COVID. Trauma cases include falls and MVAs. Surgical cases include appendectomies, G-tubes, ENT, fresh trachs, bowel obstructions, broken bones, VP shunts, and neuro cases.
Patients receiving chemo.
During COVID surge tier 3, may provide care up to age 30 (extremely rare).
ECMO specialist will handle the ECMO machine.
CRRT patients may be assigned if you have previous CRRT and Prismax experience; volume is very low, so these patients will likely go to core staff.
Major facial wounds, eye injuries, and penetrating trauma go to Harborview. No solid organ transplant, major burns, VADs, or stem cell transplants.

Shift & Scheduling:
Weekend rotation: Every other (unless otherwise requested or stated).
On-call: none; low census/standby may be used to call you in for a later portion of shift.
Shift times: 0700-1930, 1900-0730.

Floating Requirements:
Floating: MedSurg, or ED or NICU helping hand or sitter.
