Additional Information
Required Skills/Experience:
- First-time travelers not accepted.
- Must have experience with all listed case types.
- Critical care experience and competencies with ICU cases, including hemodynamic drips and ventilated patients.
- Comfortable with pre-op, recovery, and discharge of patients.
- IV insertion, ventilator training, epidural/PCA setup/initiation, and initiation of blood product transfusions.
Special Requests:
- RTO requires manager approval and must be written into the contract.
Unit Details:
- Pediatric and adult patients.
- Case types include GYN, general, robotics (bariatric, prostate, hernia, gallbladder, hysterectomy), urology, ortho, ortho/spine, podiatry, cataracts, ENT, endoscopy (colon, EGD, ERCP, bronchoscopy), and vascular.
- May care for boarded patients when hospital census is full and no inpatient beds are available.
- Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing.
- Patient ratios: Pre-op 1:3 or 1:4, depending on acuity; Phase 1 1:2; Phase 2 1:4.
Shift & Scheduling:
- M-F rotating shifts.
- Weeknight call: 1 weeknight every 4 weeks - 7p-7a.
- Weekend call every 4th weekend (Fri 1900-Mon 0600).
- Holiday rotation required.
- Shift times vary based on need.
- Schedule cycle: every 8 weeks.
Floating Requirements:
- Rotates through Pre-op and PACU areas, including Phase 1 and Phase 2.
