Special Requests: Artificial nails are not allowed for travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed. Can only apply to 1 position at a time across the entire WVU system. Previous permanent candidates must be gone for 2 years. Previous travelers there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years. Eligibility as current/previous employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers. If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility. At least 1 reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job being applied to.
Required Skills/Experience: RNs must be able to read telemetry strips in conjunction with the telemetry monitor techs that continuously monitor strips.
Unit Details: Ratios: 1:3 for Stepdown; 1:4-6 for floor. Typical MedSurg population: chest pain, COPD, AMS, pneumonia, UTI, abdominal pain, overflow for most services, hospice (will "flip" patients to GIP Hospice on 7 West). Stepdown has drips; floor only gets PCAs, heparin, etc.
Shift & Scheduling: 2 weekends per schedule. Work into the perm staff holiday schedule.
Floating Requirements: Can be pulled to any floor or stepdown unit.
