Additional Information
Required Skills/Experience:
- Strong orthopedic background required, including fractures, anterior hips, total joints, ortho spine, and hand/podiatry.
Special Requests:
- First-time travelers may be considered with manager approval for strong candidates.
- During holiday weeks, may work 4 10-hour shifts or take the holiday unpaid.
Unit Details:
- Neuro/spine cases include laminectomies, ALIFs, fusions, and discectomies.
- Cranial cases may include tumors, AVMs/aneurysms, VP shunts, subdurals, and EVDs; AVMs/aneurysms are not required, and EVD system setup is not required.
- ENT cases may include neck dissections with flaps, sinus surgery with Stealth Navigation, tonsils, tympanoplasty, and cochlear; cochlear is not required.
- Navigation systems include Medtronic, Medtronic Stealth, Stryker, and Synaptive.
- General OR cases include breasts/plastics, vascular, laparoscopic, general oncology, genitourinary, gynecology, and XI robotic cases. Agency staff are not trained on robots unless they have a strong background and will be here for more than one contract.
- Uses Hanna table, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Variable day-shift start times between 0530-0700.
- On-call required with a 30-minute response time; no call room available.
- Call schedule is issued in 8-week blocks and is subject to change based on staffing needs.
- Call coverage includes general, neuro, and ortho, with EOS, 1730-2230, and 2230-0700 call shifts.
- Weekend call is 1-2 weekends, depending on specialty.
Floating Requirements:
- Cross-trained to General Main OR specialty, regardless of hiring position, and to Urology Center.
