Additional Information
Required Skills/Experience:
- Tele interpretation; initiate/titrate insulin, heparin, and cardiac drips.
- 1 travel assignment required.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- PIV insertion, stable home vents, chest tube/indwelling drain management, CBI, stable drips (lasix, protonix), blood product administration, continuous BiPap, and neutropenic precautions.
Required Credentials:
- Associate Degree or Certificate.
Unit Details:
- Stepdown/PCU patient population, including drips (insulin, heparin, cardiac, etc.), sepsis, CHF, COPD, DKA, cirrhosis, dementia, and surgical urology, abdominal, and ortho patients.
- Ratios: SDU days 1:4-5, nights 1:5-6; Tele days 1:5-6, nights 1:6. Charge nurse rarely takes patients on days, but takes an assignment on night shift.
- May require precepting students and new hires.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Every third weekend. Every other holiday.
- Flexible contract hours: 48 per week available upon request.
Floating Requirements:
- First to float within skillset. Potential float to Deaconess Newburgh (IN) campus (8 miles apart) and Deaconess Gateway (IN – 11 miles). 2 HR notice given for cross-campus float. Mid-shift float within same campus. Cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible.
